Spread the love

With summer around the corner, it is only natural that we start thinking about slimming down and cutting up on calories. The cold but cozy winter months easily tempt us to stay in more and enjoy delicious meals that we know won’t exactly help our figure. Red wine and delicious deserts may be a temptation we can’t withstand during winter but as spring and summer approach, we become more conscious of our bodies and the worrying begins.

We start making plans about that long-awaited summer beach vacation, we want to show off our amazing tans and be confident in our skin. It may be easier for those of you who already have formed habits of working out and abide by a strict diet. However, even if this has not been your way of life until now, you could easily form a few new habits that can help you get that desired summer body of your dreams.

You will feel amazing, look terrific, and will be ready to tackle all of the summer adventures that the new season has in store for you! So take out your favorite pair of comfy and colorful leggings, match them with a sports bra of choice and let’s see what you can do!

The habits that will help you stay in shape during summer

Forming new habits is not as difficult as it sounds, especially if you stay open-minded and welcome open-heartedly new things in your life. For some of you, these new habits will be easier while some may find it difficult to say goodbye to the old ways. However, keep in mind that patience and consistency are the keys to any door.

Stay hydrated

The first habit in our list shouldn’t really be a surprise. Drinking water during the day should be a well-formed habit for any adult but you may be surprised to find out how many people forget about this essential part of the day. Can you imagine that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated?

Water is a vital part of the human body and makes up more than 50% of body weight. It has the terrific ability to tackle fat, make your skin look healthy and young, and also helps your liver by eliminating harmful toxins.

The standard adult should drink about 2 litres of water every day. Try to have a bottle of fresh water by your side at all times during the day. This way, you will be reminded to take a sip once in a while and reach your daily target that will help you stay healthy and in shape.

 Choose in-season organic food

The second important habit that will help you tackle the summer season with confidence is choosing real food. Spring and summer are the best seasons to stack up on fresh fruits and vegetables. We are tempted to select lighter options to feel good despite the hot temperatures. Visit the local farmer’s markets and check out your local stores to see what they have to offer.

Ask for the in-season food and play around with different recipes to keep your senses satisfied and your body looking amazing. Try to stay away from salt and sugar and if possible, try to adapt your diet to your body type. If this all sounds very new to you, you can always get the help of a professional for a personalized nutrition plan.

Get enough sleep

You may be asking yourself how sleep can help you get your dream summer body. Getting enough rest helps your metabolism and ensures that it functions properly. Sleep not only regulates metabolism but helps appetite remain at normal levels. The stomach releases a hormone called ghrelin, which gives appetite a boost but and lower the amount of energy your body invests.

Not getting enough sleep can lower the production of leptin by nearly 20%. You will feel energized and your metabolism will help you absorb and digest everything you have consumed. Additionally, studies reveal that when we sleep, glucose metabolism is given a boost, meaning that calories are burned at a higher speed.

In short, the more you sleep, the more calories you are burning. This does sound amazing but be careful – oversleeping hides its challenges. Too much sleep can have the opposite effect and cause the speed of metabolism to slow down.

Make the most of what technology has to offer

We spend the majority of our free time on a connected device nowadays. Whether it’s your smartphone, laptop, or tablet, chances are that you are online. Rather than investing all of your connected time on Instagram and Facebook browsing around, try to invest some time in exploring health and wellness apps.

There are plenty of legitimate and proven platforms that you can use to achieve your health objectives. Regardless of whether you want to be more consistent with your training or want to develop a habit of healthy and personalized eating, apps can be of great help.

Discovering valuable information shared from experts in the field is not the only thing that you can get from apps. Most have been designed with particular attention to helping you form a habit. You can expect daily reminders based on our set objectives, broken down activities that will get you closer to your goal, and more. It’s like training or healthy eating with a buddy, only it’s available 24/7.

Walk whenever possible

Even if you’re not a fan of intense cardio workouts, you can still stimulate your body to burn calories faster and stay in shape by increasing your walking. If you live in a city that makes it possible for you to walk to and from work, for instance, by all means – make this a priority. Leave your car as much as possible and instead opt for a bike ride or a nice walk.

If your lifestyle allows it, take some time for a morning walk. Apart from helping you get closer to getting an amazing summer body, it could be extremely refreshing and motivating. Make a cup of coffee and head out to the nearest park. You will be surprised how rejuvenating nature can be during the early hours of the day.

At first, it could be difficult to set your mind up for but once you try it a few times, you will notice that your body wants more. Don’t give up and be consistent to make this a new habit that will work wonders for your physique.

Get some tan early on

What’s a summer body without a tan, right?

Tanning can make your body look slimmer and more prepared for the summer season. Whenever possible, visit the local park and get some tan early on to feel more comfortable once the truly hot months arrive.

In addition to making you feel better and look amazing, the sun is a great source of vitamin D that is essential for the proper functioning of your body. Staying healthy and looking gorgeous at the same time? Who would say no to that!

Find new hobbies

A diverse life is a happy life! Not only that but staying occupied with different activities can help you stay away from overeating or making poor eating choices. For instance, try a range of sports to see which one best fits your personality and preferences. Joining a team can be additionally motivating and inspiring to stay active more often, especially if you form strong bonds with your team members.

Even if your new hobby isn’t physically demanding, it can still help you put your mind into something else rather than food. Give drawing a try or select a puzzle that you just can’t stay away from.

You’re ready for summer

As you can see, slimming down and shaping your body doesn’t have to be associated with intense cardio workouts five times a week. Once you develop a healthier lifestyle you will notice how easy it is to maintain a balanced way of life that will inevitably lead you to more confidence on the beach during the hot summer days.

Equip yourself with the right pair of leggings and a matching sports bra to support you during your new habit formation. After all, don’t forget that whatever you do it’s important to do it in comfort and style.
